Andrew Wright is a Los Angeles based Producer and Mix Engineer. Growing up in St. Petersburg, Florida, Andrew was raised early on with an appreciation for music. At the age of 10, Andrew began taking classical piano lessons at 16th Street (now John Hopkins) Middle School’s Center for the Arts and International Studies magnet program. “At the time, I really didn’t want to play but my mom wanted me to try it out. She said that if I didn’t like it, I could change my focus to another art form. I gave it a shot and ended up sticking with it.” Challenging himself to play tougher songs, he went from playing beginner piano pieces to playing the original composition of “The Entertainer” by Scott Joplin by the end of his first year in middle school. In addition to playing classical music, Andrew can play several genres by ear including Gospel, R&B and Pop. “Understanding different genres of music and the theory behind it helps makes me a more well rounded producer and mixer.”

In 2011, Andrew began producing music and got his first experience recording in a studio setting. “During these sessions, I was watching what the engineers were doing and the terms they were throwing out. I started self educating myself on how to properly record and mix my own tracks. I was initially watching hours of YouTube videos and going to free seminars to learn any little thing I could about mixing. I couldn’t afford to go to a school like Full Sail because I was already paying for two degrees.” On the suggestion of his wife, Andrew enrolled at a local city college to where they taught a 16 week course on mixing. It was there where he met Grammy-nominated mixer Delbert Bowers. “When I took that class with Del, it affirmed a lot of the things I had been studying on my own but it also broke me out of some of my conventional thinking.” After finishing this course, Andrew launched WrightBrained Music. “WrightBrained Music is the culmination of all of my experiences in learning about music, mixing and distributing music in today’s landscape. I want to help artists get their projects to the finish line and release the music they have worked so hard on.”
